About Sofra Restaurant

Bringing authentic Greek & Turkish flavors to Washington D.C.

Our Story

Located in the heart of Washington D.C.'s vibrant Woodley Park neighborhood, Sofra Restaurant serves authentic Greek and Turkish cuisine with passion and dedication. Our name "Sofra" means "dining table" in Turkish, but it carries a deeper meaning beyond just physical coming together.

Sofra embodies the communal spirit of sharing meals and conversation with family and friends, symbolizing hospitality, togetherness, and warmth. It signifies a time to gather, eat delicious food, and connect with loved ones.

Chef Kenan Cetintas

Our menu has been crafted by Chef Kenan, who grew up in Izmir immersed in both Greek and Turkish cultures. He honed his skills working at numerous Greek and Turkish restaurants before managing various establishments. After successfully launching seven restaurants in the Middle East, including Dubai and Qatar, he now brings his extraordinary tastes of Greek, Turkish, and Middle Eastern flavors to Washington D.C., enhanced with his personal touch.

Our Commitment

All our lamb, chicken, and beef selections are purchased locally, and we cook everything on a charcoal grill without using gas or electric ovens. Our locally sourced items are purchased fresh daily with the customer in mind, and we make and bake all of our breads daily.
